MTC Packages (Part 2)

Bon Voyage!!

This was a travel package saying Bon Voyage (Safe Travels) for him to have for his long trip to France. I forgot to take a picture of the things I put in this package. So I am going to list them.

*Travel pillow for the 10 hour flight
*Mission Talks folder (Tyler wanted Jaxon to have a folder to put all his talks in to have throughout his mission. He wished he had one when he was on his mission).
*Recipes - Family recipes for Jaxon to have in France. I put just the simple quick ones that were his favorites.
* Travel size shampoo, lotion, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste.
*Candies, mint's and frozen Gatorade (he loves the frozen gatorade because when it gets to him it's like a slush).
*Homemade Rice Krispy Treats and No Bake Cookies.

I Printed out the google maps of Paris France, Belgium and Germany. Just the cities where his mission covers and taped it on a box.

I took an empty Oatmeal container and pasted a France flag around it and filled this with No Bake Cookies.

Happy Halloween!!!!

I thought it would be fun to have some traditional Halloween goodies, Homemade Caramel Apples. 12 apples to share with his French teacher's and district. He asked for Halloween decorations so I sent him some of those also.

 "Celebration" Package
Half way through the MTC

I decided to get Jaxon's district excited that they are half way through the MTC. Here is the Celebration Package I sent.
Jaxon emailed me and said he loves all the packages he is getting. He said it makes the MTC a lot better.

"Bread & Honey" Package

After hearing how the food in the MTC is killing him, I decided he needed some other options that don't have to be refrigerated and what's better than a package of good food.  I put some wheat and white bread (didn't know which one he would like) and some Honey. I also made Grandma Hansen's famous Bran Muffins the morning of sending it so they would be fresh.  Apple Juice because he Loves the kind in a can, a little butter, some treats and a little basketball for his residence door. He hasn't been able to play Basketball much because his district  doesn't like to play. Hopefully this nerf set will fill the void.
(Just found out from an email to not send any bread, PB and Honey because the MTC has all that. Hmmmm, Then what is this kid complaining about for food. haha)

"President Hinckley Mission" Package

I came across this idea on Pinterest but then changed a few things. I loved this one because it's President Hinckley talking about the 10 things you gain on your mission. He talks about each thing and the gifts you receive by following these guidelines on your mission. I thought this would be great for Jaxon to remember.

I wrapped the gifts all up like this. Simple and colorful!

This is the opening of President Hinckley's talk.

10 things you gain from your

Mission
                              By President Hinckley

I had an Envelope with this saying inside:

"These are 10 gifts that I would hope every missionary would bring home with him or her—not a lot of tinsel, not a lot of dolls, not a lot of rugs or furs or dresses or plates, but these great, enduring, wonderful things. God bless you to keep the faith, and while doing so, enjoy with great happiness that which you are called to do."        President Hinckley

The gift and quote: Follow President Hinckley's 10 guidelines and your future will be so "Brite".  (Small Sprite can's for a gift and changing the "sp" for "B")

#1 Envelope

A knowledge of and
LOVE
for God our Eternal Father and his beloved son Jesus Christ.

Inside Envelope:

“This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” (John 17:3). There is no greater gift that comes to anyone in this world than a certain, reassuring conviction that God, our Eternal Father, lives and that Jesus is the Christ. I believe that. I think it is so very, very important."  President Hinckley

The gift and quote: Let the love of Heavenly Father surround you like this big hug from Camry! (Camry's hands traced with a Ribbon as long as her arms)

#2 Envelope
A Knowledge of and Love for the scriptures, The word of God.

                         Inside Envelope:

"As a missionary, I read each evening before going to bed a few chapters of the Book of Mormon, and there came into my heart a conviction which has never left: that this is the word of God, restored to the earth by the power of the Almighty, translated by the gift and power of God to the convincing of the Jew and the Gentile that Jesus is the Christ. I thank the Lord for the testimony which I have of the truth of the word of God as found in these sacred revealed books. And I would hope that every missionary would leave his or her field of labor with a conviction in his or her heart that these things are true." President Hinckley

The gift and quote: We know you are working hard to become a scripture Smarty. (Smarties candy)

#3 Envelope

An increased

LOVE

for your parents

Inside Envelope:

"I have attended hundreds of missionary meetings over the years. I love to hear missionaries speak of their love for the Lord, but I also love to hear them speak with great appreciation and love concerning their parents. Boys who had been careless and indifferent stand on their feet and with tears in their eyes to thank the Lord for their fathers and their mothers. In these days, what a salutary and wonderful thing it is to hear a strong young man stand up and speak with great feeling concerning his father and his mother, saying things he would never have said before in all of his life. Every boy and girl ought to come home with an increased love for parents." President Hinckley

The gift and quote: You know your mom loves those hugs and kisses. Even though she made you give her a hug, you were secretly glad she did. Haha. (Hershey Hugs and Kisses)

#4 Envelope
A Love for the
PEOPLE
Among whom you labor

 Inside Envelope:
"I love the English people. No one can sell the English short in my mind because I labored with them, I lived with them, I was in their homes at their firesides, I learned to know their hearts, and I learned to love them.
I have learned to love the people of Asia. I spent 11 years among them, and I love them. To me, I love them as much as I love anybody because of the experience I have had as a missionary, as it were, among them.   There’s something wrong if a missionary doesn’t come back with a great love for the people among whom he labored." President Hinckley

The gift and quote: You will be a great Fisher of Men. (Goldfish crackers)

#5 Envelope
An appreciation of
                                 HARD WORK

Inside Envelope:

"Every missionary ought to come to realize that work, work, work is the key to getting things done, the key to success in life. There is no substitute for work, for getting up in the morning and getting at it and staying with it to get the job done. I don’t know of a greater asset for whatever lies ahead in life than the capacity to discipline oneself to work."  President Hinckley

The gift and quote:  For all that hard work, your reward will be much greater than money.  (Please give this $10 to someone who is in need. It could be someone on the street or even a fellow missionary who doesn’t have a lot of money. (A $10 dollar bill made into a shirt and tie. You can find how to make it on google)

#6 Envelope
The assurance that the
HOLY SPIRIT
is available to each of us when   we live for it

 Inside Envelope:

"The availability of inspiration—each of us, if we live for it, if we cultivate it, can have it. I love these great words of revelation, these words of promise: “God shall give unto you knowledge by his Holy Spirit, yea, by the unspeakable gift of the Holy Ghost” (D&C 121:26). What a precious gift to bring home—the assurance, the certainty that if we live for it, we have available to us that which comes by the power of the Holy Spirit." President Hinckley

The gift and quote: Listen to the Holy Spirit, He will guide, comfort, Strengthen and Protect you. The holy spirit is a LIFE SAVER (A package of Life-Savers)

#7 Envelope
The understanding of the Importance of
       TEAM WORK!

Inside Envelope:

"No one can do this work alone. We work in pairs. “In the mouth of two or more witnesses shall [all things] be established” (2 Corinthians 13:1). We work together. There is no place for primadonna’s in the mission field. Our efforts are largely team efforts, and what a marvelous thing it is to learn to work with other people." President Hinckley

The gift and quote: Is there any better team than a Sweet and Salty Pair? (Nature Valley Sweet and Salty granola Bars)

#8 Envelope
The Value of
Personal Virtue

Inside Envelope:

"I think there is no greater thing concerning future integrity that a missionary can learn than the value of personal virtue. I think there are fewer words greater than the promise given under the inspiration of the Lord as set forth by the Prophet Joseph Smith: “Let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly.” That’s the commandment. And then the promise: “Thy confidence [shall] wax strong in the presence of God” (D&C 121:45). That’s the promise to those who walk in virtue." President Hinckley

The gift and quote: For a personal Boost, remember those, your biggest fans, looking up to you. (A picture of some of his biggest fans. I wanted all the little cousins to take pictures and send them to me but I didn’t have time so I grabbed the family we had at church.)

#9 Envelope
The FAITH
to ACT

Inside Envelope:
"I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way … that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth' (1 Nephi 3:7). We ask tremendous things of missionaries. It is so hard for shy and indiffirent young people to do the things we sometimes ask them to do. But what a marvelous thing that they try. They have the faith to do, the faith to act, the faith to go forward and make the effort. And what a marvelous gift that is to bring home." President Hinckley

The gift and quote: Faith dip, to remind you to dip into your faith when spirits are low. (Fun Dip. Change the Fun to Faith)

#10 Envelope
The Humility to
PRAY

Inside Envelope:
"Recognize that there is a power greater than ours, that no matter how good a man is, he is not good enough, that no matter how wise he is, he is not wise enough, that no matter how strong he is, he is not strong enough for all of the things which he will face in life, and that there is a source of power to which he can go with the assurance that he will be listened to and that there will be a response." President Hinckley

The gift and Quote:  Especially for the days where you are tired, sore and seem to be stuck in a rut, Just remember that prayer can help you get back up.    (A Prayer Rock painted and colored by Camry and little poem to go with it. See below) There is other prayer rock poems, but I thought I would make it simple for him.

I’m your little Prayer Rock, and this is what I’ll do. Just put me on your pillow till the day is through.
Then turn back the covers and climb into your bed, and  whack! Your little prayer rock will bump you on the head.
Then you will remember as the day is through, to kneel and say your prayers as you intended to.
Because your Heavenly Father cares and loves you so, He wants you to remember to talk to him, you know.
